| This morning when I left for work I noticed a deer on the lawns in the garden. This is not the first time we have seen them in the garden, the photograph above was snatch a few years back, taken through the Kitchen window, hence the rather poor quality. This was taken very near to where I saw the deer this morning.
Gerry, the guy that used to cut the grass for us, saw a deer in the similar place a few months back, and we saw evidence of deer’s rutting in the garden at the end of last year.
While we love to see these rather marvellous animals, they may be responsible for a lot of damage we are seeing in the garden, many of the plants that we set out last year have been eaten. We have covered the worst damaged with wire, and we are trailing one product as a deterrent, we’ll let you know if it is successful.
In the mean time we must learn to live with our ever increasing deer population, the deer I saw this morning, last seen running down the road after leaving the garden via the hedge, “what’s wrong with the gate?”, I ask..
