| Recently we have seen deer in the garden, and have noticed damage to some of the planting in the area where the deer have been seen. We originally thought the damage may be due to a couple of Pheasants that used to wander around the area, but we have not seen these recently, so we assume the damage is more likely down too the deer. While we like to see the deer, the damage that they cause can be considerable, already some 20 plants seem to have gone missing. So over the weekend we built the Little Martins ScareDeerer! Made up of a T-shaped wooden structure, from which old CD's have been hung. This came about following a chat with our neighbours who were also experiencing problems with deer eating their roses, and they have had success in discouraging the deer using old CD's that reflect light and hopefully scare off the deer. We wait to see if this stops that damage? |
