While we continue to prepare the Dell for the planned re-planting next week,
we need to carry on with preparation in other parts of the garden.
One area that we are keen to complete the preparation is our Potatger.

Only a small area of the garden, but one of the most important as we grow
some of our favourite fruit and vegetables. This year we are planning to
plant out the area as shown below.

We suffer a lot from slug and snail damage, particular wit the salad crops
and beans, when they are young. In an attempt to reduce this damage we
have raised the beds slightly, and attached copper tape to the boards that
surround each bed. We also apply nematodes to each of the growing beds.
Nematodes are also applied to the Greenhouse and to the many Hostas that are in
pots and containers that you we find across the garden.
As the Potager is a small area and the planting very intense, we always start
the year by applying a couple of barrow loads of manure to each bed.
